Chapter History

Iota Chapter was founded in May 2011 by seven women driven to change not only the Greek community but the campus community of the University of San Diego. Believing the Greek community did not truly represent the variety of women and men that attend the university, the seven founding sisters of Iota Chapter began the process of shaping the University’s First Cultural Greek organization in February 2011. Immediately meeting resistance from University administration, the Founding Sisters fought to become Sisters of the organization, found Iota Chapter, and maintain sisterhood while under great stress from the University and the National Board. However, despite multiple obstacles, seven women succeeded, constantly striving to create a home away from home for women and bring a new population of women into the Greek community.
